Ranked by fit, not by fee.

Jobly is an independent search engine for startup jobs. It indexes 40,000+ roles straight from company hiring systems and ranks them against what you actually want — never against what someone paid.

Why it exists

Every major job board has the same conflict of interest: the people paying are the ones posting. That shapes what you see. Promoted listings float. Stale listings stay up because a repost is billable. Search results answer the question “who paid?” while appearing to answer “what fits?”

Startups are where that hurts most. The interesting roles are at companies you have not heard of, posted on their own careers page, and gone in a fortnight. They rarely surface on a board optimised for volume.

So Jobly works the other way around. It reads listings from the companies themselves, keeps them fresh, and ranks them against a description of the job you want written in your own words. Nobody pays to be in the results.

How it works

A scraper walks the applicant tracking systems that startups actually use and pulls structured roles — title, team, location, work type, salary where it is published. A language model extracts the fields that are buried in prose, and each role is embedded so it can be matched on meaning rather than keywords.

When you search, your description is matched against that index by both meaning and exact terms, then re-ranked against your profile and resume. The assistant sits on top of the same index, so anything it tells you about a role is grounded in a listing it can point to.

What we hold ourselves to

No money changes the order

No sponsored slots, no promoted employers, no pay-to-play. Nobody can buy a higher position, because there is nothing to buy. The ranking is the product; selling it would be selling the only thing that makes it worth using.

Listings come from the source

Roles are read directly from company applicant tracking systems — Ashby, Greenhouse, Lever — not from an aggregator reselling a feed. You apply on the company's own page. There is no middleman between you and the hiring team.

Dead listings get removed

Every listing is re-checked on a schedule and pulled when it disappears from the source. Ghost jobs are the single most demoralising thing about job hunting, and the fix is unglamorous maintenance rather than a feature.

The assistant cites what it read

When the assistant tells you something about a role or a company, it shows the listings it drew on. If it cannot find the answer in real data, it says so instead of producing a confident guess.

Who is behind it

One person. Jobly is independent and self-funded — no investors, no board, no growth targets set by someone who has never used the product. That is a real constraint: things ship slower than they would with a team behind them.

It is also the reason the trust promise is credible. There is no revenue plan that depends on employers paying for placement, so there is never a quarter where selling the ranking starts to look reasonable.

If something is wrong — a stale listing, a bad match, a company that should not be here — tell us. It goes straight to the person who can fix it.

Your next startup is already listed.
